Frequently asked questions

Human Design is a system of self-knowledge. It brings together three ancient traditions, astrology, the I Ching and the Hindu energy centres, and adds what quantum physics and genetics contribute today.

It was transmitted in 1987 by Ra Uru Hu on Ibiza, during an intense eight-day mystical experience, shortly after the supernova SN1987a was observed. Since then it has grown into a rigorous system used by millions of people worldwide.

Unlike classical astrology or personality tests, Human Design gives you a unique mechanical map, your Body Graph, calculated from your exact date, time and place of birth.

Both. Human Design works from precise astronomical calculations (geocentric planetary positions, lunar nodes) and relates them to a symbolic system drawn from traditions thousands of years old.

The calculation of your Body Graph is objective and reproducible: any software will give the same result for the same birth data. The interpretation, on the other hand, rests on a body of knowledge developed and refined for more than 35 years.

Human Design asks for no belief, it invites you to experiment. Live by your Strategy and your Authority for a few months, and watch what changes.

Your Type is the fundamental category of your design, set by which energy centres are defined in your Body Graph. There are five:

• Generator (~36%): steady, self-renewing life energy. Strategy: wait to respond.
• Manifesting Generator (~33%): the same sacral energy, plus the ability to initiate quickly.
• Manifestor (~9%): the only type that can initiate. Strategy: inform before acting.
• Projector (~21%): a natural guide. Strategy: wait for the invitation.
• Reflector (~1%): mirror of the community. Strategy: wait 28 days.

Authority is your personal decision-making compass. It tells you how to make good decisions, not with your mind but through a bodily intelligence specific to your design.

An Emotional Authority, for instance, asks you to wait for clarity through your emotional waves. A Sacral Authority works through immediate gut responses, a visceral yes or no. A Splenic Authority speaks as an instant flash of intuition.

Learning to follow your Authority is considered the most powerful change Human Design can bring to a life. More about the 7 authorities.

The Profile (4/6, 1/3 or 5/1, for example) is your life costume. It is made of two numbers:

• The first (conscious) is what you recognise in yourself
• The second (unconscious) is what others see in you

There are 6 base lines: 1 Investigator, 2 Hermit, 3 Martyr, 4 Opportunist, 5 Heretic, 6 Role Model. Combined, they form 12 possible profiles describing your natural role in human interaction.

Deconditioning is the process, about 7 years long, through which living by your Strategy and your Authority gradually frees you from the outside influences that mask your true nature.

Since childhood, your undefined centres have been absorbing and amplifying other people's energy: parents, school, society. That produces "Not-Self" behaviour: chronic frustration, bitterness, anger or disappointment.

Deconditioning is not an effort of will. It is a natural return that begins once you start to respect your own mechanics.

No, it complements them. Astrology explores archetypes and transits. Psychology works on wounds and behaviour. Human Design offers something different: a mechanical map of how your energy works.

It does not say "who to be" but "how you already function". It is a practical user manual, not a philosophy of life. Many people combine the three approaches successfully.

Definition describes how your defined centres connect to each other. It deeply shapes how you process information and what you need in relationships. There are 6 forms:

• Single Definition: all your defined centres are linked into one single group. You are energetically self-contained.
• Small Split: two groups of centres separated by a narrow gap, which a single “bridge” is enough to close, a gate, a person or a transit.
• Wide Split: two groups separated by a wider gap. Linking the two parts takes several connections.
• Triple Split: three separate groups. You need time and a variety of relationships to feel complete.
• Quadruple Split: four separate groups. Very rare, and it calls for a lot of movement and varied connections.
• No Definition: not a single defined centre. This is the unique case of Reflectors, who mirror the energy of their environment.

Yes, calculating and reading the basics of your Body Graph are free, with no advertising and no compulsory sign-up. The Free plan covers generating the chart, the centres, gates and channels, type, authority and profile, plus unlimited saving of Body Graphs and the birth Mandala. The detailed encyclopedia entries come with the Essentiel subscription.

To go further, there are three paid plans:

• Essentiel (€5.90/month): unlimited Body Graphs, detailed encyclopedia entries (gates, channels, centres, types, authorities, profiles and lines), complete reading.
• Strategy (€29.90/month): everything in Essentiel + 50 AI credits a month, that is 10 fine readings in a tab of its own, live planetary transits and first sight of everything new.
• Authority (€49.90/month (launch price until 31 December, kept for as long as the subscription runs, then €79.90/month)): everything in Strategy, plus access to the Pro area at pro.rosmaryn.app, the practitioner’s working software.

With a free account, the 3D tour of your Body Graph also explains your Type and your Authority; Essentiel opens the full tour and the mandala in 3D.

Essentiel opens the whole Human Design content:

• Unlimited Body Graphs (save them for family, for friends)
• Complete reading of your chart, every tab unlocked
• Detailed encyclopedia entries: 64 gates, 36 channels, 9 centres, types, authorities, 12 profiles and 6 lines. The “Advanced” section (incarnation crosses, lunar nodes, variables, PHS, the 384 gate × line entries, the 64 hexagrams and the 8 trigrams of the I Ching) opens with the Strategy plan.
• Fine AI reading: Strategy plan only (readings already produced stay available from the cache)
• Composite Body Graph: two charts overlaid to read a relationship

Strategy adds:

• 50 AI credits a month, that is 10 fine readings, not included in Essentiel, and the “Fine reading” tab that holds them
• The detailed layer of every tab: advice channel by channel, active gates, 13 planets, Life Path, detailed Variables
• Live planetary transits: the sky of the moment laid over your natal chart, with an interactive slider and jumps to the full moons
• Natal chart: your birth wheel (planets, signs, houses), its elements and modalities
• Aspects and the Human Design link in the Astro view: every aspect of your chart read one by one, and your natal chart crossed with your Body Graph
• Early access to new features and tools, before anyone else

The AI allowance is counted in credits: Strategy receives 50 credits a month, a fine reading costs 5, so 10 readings. Essentiel receives none. Authority receives 1 000 of them a month.

A third plan, Authority (€49.90/month (launch price until 31 December, kept for as long as the subscription runs, then €79.90/month)), carries every Strategy right inside the app and adds the Pro area, the practitioner’s working software, at pro.rosmaryn.app.

The calculation of your Body Graph runs entirely in your browser. Your birth data is never sent to a server for the calculation.

If you create an account and save a Body Graph, your data is stored in our secure database so that you can find it again. You can delete your saved charts at any time from your "My Account" area.

Yes. Our engine reads the JPL DE430 ephemerides (NASA), the very source professional astronomy and astrology software derives from. The conversion to apparent longitude follows International Astronomical Union standards.

We compute the geocentric positions, as seen from Earth, of 13 celestial bodies: Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, Pluto, North Node, South Node and Earth. Each position is converted into a gate and a line according to the Human Design mandala.

Yes, in several ways:

• Shareable link: the address of your Body Graph is unique and permanent. Anyone who opens it sees your chart.
• JPG image: download your Body Graph in high resolution.
• Social networks: share straight to WhatsApp, Facebook or Instagram.
• Embed: place your interactive Body Graph on your own website.

No, creating an account is optional. You can generate and read your Body Graph without signing up at all.

An account lets you save several Body Graphs (family, friends, clients), find them again easily and edit them.

Yes. The compatibility calculator lays two Body Graphs over each other from two births, with no account: it draws your chart together and counts the channels you form, electromagnetic, companionship, dominance and compromise, with the gate each of you brings. The detailed reading of these connections is part of the Essentiel plan.

Open the compatibility calculator

Your Body Graph needs no questionnaire: it is calculated from your date, time and place of birth, free of charge and without an account. The not-self test comes next: it starts from your open centres and asks you one question for each, with no score, then suggests one thing to watch for seven days.

Take the not-self test

Free is for you if you are discovering Human Design: you want to generate your chart, see your centres, your type and your authority, and save as many Body Graphs as you like, for family, friends, people close to you. No commitment, no card asked for.

Essentiel is for you if you want to explore your design in depth: the complete reading of your design (the deeper Channels and Activations tabs, however, come with the Strategy plan), the composite Body Graph, access to the detailed encyclopedia entries (gates, channels, centres, profiles and lines). The “Advanced” section of the encyclopedia (including the 384 gate × line entries) and live planetary transits come with the Strategy plan.

Strategy is for you if you want to go further: everything in Essentiel + 50 AI credits a month, that is 10 fine readings, the detailed layer of every tab and live planetary transits.

Authority is for you if you see clients: you keep everything Strategy opens inside the app, and you add the Pro area at pro.rosmaryn.app, your day-to-day working tool: portfolio, session preparation, cycle diary, documents in your own branding. €49.90/month (launch price until 31 December, kept for as long as the subscription runs, then €79.90/month).

The Authority plan is for the practitioner who sees clients. It costs €49.90/month (launch price until 31 December, kept for as long as the subscription runs, then €79.90/month). Inside the app it opens every Strategy right; what it adds is access to the Pro area, a separate working software hosted at pro.rosmaryn.app: client portfolio, session preparation, planetary-cycle diary, documents in your own branding handed to the client, media and messages. Your Body Graphs are the same on both sides, nothing has to be copied over.

The Pro area is a separate site, https://pro.rosmaryn.app, reserved for Authority accounts: eighteen working screens. Client portfolio with search, files, statuses and dated notes; session preparation at three levels of detail; a diary of the portfolio’s planetary cycles; PDF documents in your own branding, with your logo and colours; file import, chart generator, a workshop to build a Body Graph gate by gate during the session; encyclopedia and cheat sheets without leaving the tool; your own texts in place of the encyclopedia’s; media and ready-to-send messages. Your Body Graphs are the same there as here: the table is shared, there is no copy to keep in step.

The Authority plan opens every Strategy right: on the app side, you do not take Authority for extra content. Its purpose is access to the Pro area, the practitioner’s working software at pro.rosmaryn.app. If you do not see clients, Strategy is enough. The Authority plan costs €49.90/month (launch price until 31 December, kept for as long as the subscription runs, then €79.90/month). It also adds a tool for your sessions: the Telegram bot, which opens the encyclopaedia and calculates a Body Graph from your phone.

Your AI allowance is counted in credits. A fine reading costs 5. The counter resets on your subscription anniversary (every month, on the day you subscribed), and you follow your balance in real time in your “My Account” area.

Good news: readings already produced stay in the cache. Reopening one you have already read uses no further credit, you can reread it as often as you like.

The AI allowance is counted in credits: Strategy receives 50 credits a month, a fine reading costs 5, so 10 readings. Essentiel receives none. Authority receives 1 000 of them a month.

Essentiel does not include the fine AI reading: analyses already generated remain readable from the cache.

Inside the app, Authority opens every Strategy right: everything written here about Strategy applies to Authority as well.

Yes, saving is unlimited from the Free plan onwards. You can store as many Body Graphs as you like, for yourself, your family, friends or clients, and find them again at any time from “My Account”.

The detailed encyclopedia entries, the complete reading and the composite Body Graph are unlocked by the Essentiel plan. The “Advanced” section of the encyclopedia, the fine AI readings and live planetary transits come with Strategy.

Yes: Authority (3 days free). You get every feature of the plan straight away, with nothing charged during that period.

A bank card is required when you subscribe, but the first charge only happens once the free period is over.

Yes. You can change plan at any time from your “My Account” area. The switch is immediate and nothing is lost: your saved Body Graphs and the AI readings you have already produced are kept in both directions.

Billing is adjusted pro rata for the time left in your current cycle. Moving from Essentiel to Strategy unlocks the fine AI readings and live planetary transits straight away.

The same applies to Authority: moving to Authority opens the Pro area, leaving it closes it again, and your Body Graphs and readings stay intact both ways.

No commitment. You can cancel your Essentiel, Strategy or Authority subscription at any time from “My Account”, in one click. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the period you have paid for: you keep access to every feature until then.

No cancellation fee, no justification needed.

Your saved Body Graphs stay fully available after cancellation: saving remains unlimited on the Free plan, you lose no chart and you can keep adding as many as you like.

The fine AI readings you have already produced also stay available: they are held in our cache and tied to your account. You will not be able to produce new ones, though, while you are on Free.

The Essentiel and Strategy plan features (complete reading, composite Body Graph, encyclopedia entries, “Advanced” section, fine AI readings) switch off at the end of the period you have paid for.

Access to the Pro area closes in the same way, at the end of the period you have paid for.

The current prices are Essentiel at €5.90/month and Strategy at €29.90/month. Should they ever change, running subscriptions keep the price they were taken out at; a new price would apply only to new subscriptions.

The Authority tier costs €49.90/month (launch price until 31 December, kept for as long as the subscription runs, then €79.90/month), or €499.00/year.

In the same way, today's allowances are guaranteed for the whole life of your subscription: 50 AI credits a month, that is 10 fine readings on Strategy, and unlimited Body Graphs on every tier.

Birth time is important, because it sets the position of the Moon, which changes gate in less than half a day, and it also shifts the Design (computed 88° of the Sun's course before birth). A difference of a few hours can change your Profile, your lunar gates and sometimes even your Type.

If you do not know it:

• Ask your parents, look at your birth certificate or your child health record
• In France, the time has been compulsory on the birth certificate since 1804
• If that is impossible, enter an approximate time (12:00 by default): the Type and the Authority will most likely be right, but the finer details may vary

The colours of the Body Graph have a precise meaning:

• Coloured centres are defined centres (fixed, reliable energy). Each centre has its own colour tied to its function, red for the Root, yellow for the Solar Plexus.
• White centres are undefined centres, receptive areas that amplify other people's energy.
• Black lines are Personality activations (conscious, computed at birth).
• Red lines are Design activations (unconscious, computed 88 solar days before birth).
• Golden lines are channels activated by both, conscious and unconscious.

A defined centre (coloured) works consistently and reliably. That energy is yours, and it does not change with the people around you. It is your solid ground.

An undefined centre (white) is an area of receptivity and learning. There you absorb and amplify other people's energy. It can become wisdom, but also conditioning if you make decisions out of an energy that is not yours.

Neither is "better". Many defined centres give autonomy. Many open centres give great adaptability and empathy.

The 64 gates correspond to the 64 hexagrams of the I Ching and the 64 codons of DNA. Each gate is a specific energetic theme, activated by the position of a planet at the moment of your birth.

A Channel forms when both gates of a pair are activated. It creates a permanent flow of energy between two centres and defines them both. There are 36 possible channels.

A dormant gate is an activated gate whose companion gate is not. It creates a magnetic pull towards the people who carry the other half.

The 4 arrows of the Body Graph describe your cognitive and biological mechanics. Together they form the four transformations of the PHS (Primary Health System):

• Variable 1 (top left): Memory and Digestion, how your body digests best
• Variable 2 (bottom left): Environment, the kind of space in which you thrive
• Variable 3 (bottom right): Perspective, how you perceive the world
• Variable 4 (top right): Motivation, what moves you to act

Left (←) means an active, focused, strategic approach. Right (→) means a receptive, open, peripheral one.

The Incarnation Cross stands for your life purpose. It is formed by the 4 gates of the Sun and the Earth, conscious and unconscious. Since the Sun accounts for around 70 per cent of the neutrino programming, your Cross is the dominant theme of your existence.

There are 192 base crosses, unfolding into 768 variations according to the profile. It is not a goal to reach, it is a frequency that unfolds by itself once you live by your Strategy and your Authority.

The Design calculation stands for your bodily unconscious, the part of you inherited genetically. It is made about 88 solar days before your birth, at the precise moment when the Sun stood 88° behind its natal position.

In practice, the engine looks for the past date at which the ecliptic longitude of the Sun was exactly 88° below its value at the moment of birth. The positions of the 13 celestial bodies on that date form your red activations.

These activations are what others see in you but you do not consciously recognise. They are the bodily, instinctive side of your design, the counterpart to the Personality (black), which is your conscious part.

Small differences can come from several places:

• The time zone: some sites do not handle the summer and winter time switch correctly. Our engine detects the right zone automatically from your birth town.
• The ephemerides: we read the JPL DE430 ephemerides, the reference source. Other sites use less precise ephemerides.
• Geocentric computation: some tools mistakenly use heliocentric positions, seen from the Sun, instead of geocentric ones, seen from Earth. For Venus the gap exceeds 50° half the time and reaches a full 180° at every inferior conjunction, roughly every 584 days: ten gates out on an ordinary date, thirty-two at worst.

If you notice a significant difference, check that you entered the same time and the same town on both sites.

Yes, the site is fully responsive. The Body Graph, the analysis tabs, full-screen mode and every feature are optimised for smartphone and tablet.

Yes! Once you have generated your Body Graph, click the embed button (</>). You get an iframe code to paste on your site, which adapts on its own to the available width.

Yes. The place sets the time zone used to convert your local time into universal time (UTC), which the astronomical computation needs. A wrong zone shifts every planetary position.

Our system detects the time zone automatically from the town you enter, including historical summer and winter time changes.

We suggest reading them in this order:

1. Overview: your design in a few sentences
2. Type & Energy: your fundamental category, your aura, your strategy
3. Way of life: Memory and Digestion, environment, sleep, relationships
4. Profile & Path: your life role, your purpose, your variables
5. Centres: all 9 centres in detail, defined and undefined
6. Channels & Gates: your specific gifts and energetic connections

Every section carries help bubbles (the ? icon) explaining the technical terms.

Full-screen mode shows your Body Graph across your whole screen, for a more comfortable and detailed read, which is particularly useful when exploring the gates and channels.

To switch it on, click the full-screen icon beside the chart. To leave full-screen mode, press the Esc key on your keyboard, or click the icon again. On mobile, the Body Graph automatically takes up the full available width.

No. Your Body Graph is fixed for life, set by the planetary positions at the moment of your birth and 88 days before.

What changes is your relationship to your design. Living by your Strategy and your Authority, you gradually decondition and reach further into your true nature.

Planetary transits, the current positions of the planets, temporarily activate different gates and channels every day. That is what you feel as the daily variations in your energy.
